The purpose, as described by Thanos himself, of the snap is to randomly eliminate half of the beings in the galaxy and create a balance that does not currently exist.

The bottom-line to all this speculating comes back to the old statement of, “Too many questions and not enough answers equals a plot-hole for the ages.” Even if Loki was ruling Asgard at this point, why would he let Thanos invade Nidavellir to have the Infinity Gauntlet made in the first place? It’s not like it would serve his agenda, and we know Loki at this point was all about what was best for him. Meaning the Infinity Gauntlet could have been made prior to Loki taking over as the pretend Odin. It’s also important to note that there is a two-plus year timespan between Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War. Heimdall not knowing the Dwarves of Nidavellir were attacked by Thanos is a major plot-hole (as he’s supposed to be able to see everything).īut this issue was never brought up or addressed. Now combine that knowledge with Eitri’s question to Thor in Avengers: Infinity War, “Asgard was supposed to protect us.” Thor replies to this question with, “Asgard is destroyed.” Thor may have misunderstood what Eitri was implying, or he was using the destruction of Asgard as a cop-out for failing to protect Nidavellir. The first glimpse MCU fans get of Thanos putting on the Infinity Gauntlet is during a post-credit scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Thanos having Eitri and the Dwarves on Nidavellir make the Infinity Gauntlet for Thanos isn’t the plot-hole. Which is supposedly why Gamora kept it a secret from Quill. If she really wanted to keep the map a secret, telling anyone about it would be one step forward towards thwarting Gamora’s plan of hiding the Soul Stone from Thanos. What makes this scenario a bit off, is that Nebula has always been jealous of Gamora. How did she know it was the only map ever made, let alone a true and accurate map? Did she follow through and go see for herself? On top of it all, Gamora decided to tell Nebula she once found a map and burned it. There’s also the issue of Gamora burning the map. Who decided to create a map leading to the Soul Stone? Where is this individual now? Here’s where things start going off the rail. Gamora, at some time in her past, prior to hooking up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, is tasked by Thanos to hunt down the Soul Stone. It sounds like lazy writing but let’s break it down to find out for sure. Via Twitter a single soul knows where the Soul Stone has been hiding, except an old villain from the MCU and Gamora (who somehow found a map). Spoilers ahead for those who have yet to see Avengers: Infinity War or any of the other 18 MCU films. Please don't take any of these entries too seriously. This article has been written to be fun and thought-provoking. Until then, let’s examine and break down several problems, plot-holes, and inconsistencies created through Avengers: Infinity War. Leading many to question whether it’s simply a fluke, or if this will become the standard for years to come.

Avengers: Infinity War closed the door on several plot-holes from the past, but quickly opened a host of new windows and escape pods. For now, these issues are small, and most can even be considered petty. Whether it be timeline issues or facts being misrepresented, creating an entire universe built around hundreds of characters who are all tied to the same story is inevitably going to create problems. But this shouldn’t be used as an excuse to not call out Marvel on their mistakes.

Not every film can be perfect, but the chances of creating plot-holes, mistakes, and inconsistencies only increases when all those movies are shoved into one connecting universe.įandom is quick to give the MCU and Feige a pass on this because we’re simply enjoying seeing our childhood played out into live-action cinematography. With all this praise, however, comes problems. There’s no stopping the train now, as another 19-20 films are likely being planned out for the next decade. This is especially true after how Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War performed at the box office. Over the course of the last decade, with the release of 19 MCU films, Marvel has created something most never thought possible. Comic book movies are officially trending, much in part to what Marvel and Disney have brought to the table.
